Cirque Du Soleil: 20 Years Under the Sun – A Book Review

In case that you missed it. I created a book review video in October for the book “Cirque Du Soleil: 20 Years Under the Sun – An Authorized History” (Hardcover) by Tony Babinski (Author), Kristian Manchester (Contributor). I also uploaded this video review to Amazon.com, which is shown on the product detail page of the Book on their web site now. I find that pretty cool hehe. As I said indirectly already, the book is available for purchase for about $37 (USD) at Amazon.com and here is the video review of the book. My review in text format follows right below this embed video. Backup URL to Video on vimeo (https://vimeo.com/92736347). Backup Link to Video on Vimeo.com The book is a monster in size and weight and packed with glossy images of the Cirque and its shows and provides a interesting behind the scene look at the humble origins of the enterprise and its worldwide successful shows. It’s a good gift for somebody who is interested in the Cirque, beyond just the acrobatics. Other people probably won’t appreciate it as much, so check first, before you make the $37 investment for this book. The book was published in 2004 and probably written in 2003 to early 2004. That means that many of the Cirque du Soleil shows are missing in this book. Cirque du Soleil was very busy over the past four years, since this book was published. The last touring show covered by the book is “Varekai” and the[…]

Negative Feedback for Criss Angel’s and Cirque du Soleil’s ‘Believe’

I was surprised a lot when the first comments for the new Cirque du Soleil show “Criss Angel – Believe” were made at preview videos of the show at my YouTube.com channel “CirqueDuSoleilGuru” and also at previous posts of mine about the show here at my blog. I cannot recall any instance where a Cirque du Soleil show received that many negative comments in such short period of time (less than 3 months). It’s usually all praise and love with a stupid idiot posting some mindless comment once in a while. In case of the new show “Believe” did very specific negative comments pour in pretty much since the first pre-screenings of the show in September and onwards. Here are the unaltered negative comments about the show from my various videos and blog posts. Since I did not alter them, all misspellings and grammatical errors remained as they were also. User: HOTskull888 on YouTube said: honestly the show was the shit. like it was nuts and dont say stupid as shit stuff like ow it suks or what ever because i do magic to and i dont care what anyone thinks of it User: rjslider58 on YouTube said: i saw the show oct 10, it sucked do your self a faver dont waste your time or money. User: emtttmike on YouTube said: I wasted my money going to see ‘Believe” on 10/17…I sat waiting for it to get better and it never did…I actually looked at my watch hoping it[…]

Cirque du Soleil Delirium Encore

I was with my parents and my sister who are currently visiting me here in California at the movies on Wednesday evening. We are usually not much of movie goers and prefer watching movies and other stuff from the comfort of our own homes. However, there was something special that made me go to the movies this week and take my family along with me as well. Cirque du Soleil’s stadium show and music concert “Delirium” finished touring this year. It was launched in 2006 and toured the whole country. I saw the show/concert live in 2006 when they made it to Fresno, California (which actually surprised me). Cirque du Soleil decided for something unusual after the tour was over. They showed the show in movie theaters, but not for a regular run, like any other movie, no, it was only screened for a few days this August. When I wrote my post about this back in August I also thought that it will be a run for several weeks and not only an one time thing. I learned about my error the hard way, when I was looking for movie tickets for Delirium here in Fresno. I first thought that it wasn’t aired in Fresno at all, but I found out that I missed the show altogether, bummer. I also learned that Cirque du Soleil decided for an Encore event, which was on October 15, 2008 (Wednesday). I was smarter this time and got tickets. I thought that it[…]

Cirque du Soleil’s Music Concert ‘Delirium’ Video

Cirque du Soleil’s music concert and arena show “Delirum” is now running in Movie Theatres. You cannot see the show live anymore, because it is finished touring. However, you can see it on the Big screen at the moment and hopefully soon on DVD. I finally got around creating a longer sneak preview video, which I had on my to-do list for some time already. The news that the show stopped touring and is now shown in movie theaters made me realize that it won’t be for long anymore and a DVD will be available and no need for me to spend time on editing together a nice video hehe. So here it is now, a 28 minutes long sneak preview of some segments of the show. I think it is a record… yes, it is. The “O” and “Mystere” videos were “only” 21 and 22 minutes long. As a special bonus, both, the handbalancing (Andrey Koltsov) and hoola hoops (Irina Akimova) acts are covered completly (yeah! hehe). Editing video on a PC is still a bitch and it took me longer than I wanted to. Not the editing, but the rendering of the final video :(. God, I hate this “codec”, “DirectShow Filters”, “Video for Windows” crap and all the problems that come with it. Backup link to video at Google Video. You can also download the entire video in 400×300 resolution and .AVI format from Mediafire.com here. Other Cirque du Soleil videos of mine can also be downloaded.[…]

Cirque du Soleil & Criss Angel’s ‘Believe’ – A Special Sneak Preview

The news that the new Cirque du Soleil show with the (in)famous magician Criss Angel with the title “Believe” will premier much later than it was originally planned was bad, but there was nothing that could be done about it. There is only about 1 1/2 months to go until the current premier date and the Cirque is already on “promo tour”, which is a good sign. You do not go on promo tour, if you are in trouble and far behind schedule, risking further delays… no, you would be back “home” and work overtime, weekends and holidays to get the thing done on the date you said it would be done. Well, 16 dancers of the new show and their ceographer were sighted in Los Angeles, California a few days ago. They gave a special performance at the event “So you think you can dance?” and a first real sneak peak of the new Criss Angel show ever, actual footage from the show itself, no talks, no stills, drawings and models.. nope, the real deal this time. It shows the actual performance to get a glimpse of the things to come, when the new show finally premiers in October 2008 at the Luxor hotel and casino in Las Vegas, Nevada. This performance was aired on TV on Fox and somebody was kind enough to record it/Tivo it and upload the whole thing to his favorite video sharing website, where I picked it up. I also found a mini-documentary video,[…]
